Mountain Biking Club

Join the Mountain Biking Club! We will be taking mountain bike rides on the trails at the Frisco Peninsula and Dry Gulch area in Frisco. Our club lasts 'til the weather turns in late October.

 

Meetings are Tuesdays 3:30pm-5:00pm. Meet us in the outdoor classroom between the Grays and Torreys communities.

Student Council

Student Council is a student-based organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students.  Students plan and prepare school events and make posters to advertise them. Some events include our spirit weeks and the annual Tiger Trot.

Variety Show

Students get to show off their talents in the annual SMS Variety Show! Anything from singing, yo-yo's, dancing, comedians, etc. are welcome. Participants must attend tryouts to participate.

Best Buddies

Best Buddies is a club where we have students in gen ed paired up with students in my severe needs class. Everyone is welcome! The goal of Best Buddies is to create lasting 1x1 friendships. This pairing will happen with thought and intention by the main mentors of the club, myself and Jen Schenk. Last year some of our activities included bowling (hopefully Lakeside opens again!), swimming, tubing, watching an SMS football game, arts and crafts, and many more. 

Our first meeting will be on September 5, after school in room 504 from 3:15-5:00pm. Future meeting dates T.B.A.

Speech and Debate

Intramural Knowledge Bowl

Knowledge Bowl meets Mondays (beginning November 3rd, 2019) from 3:15 until the activity bus arrives in room 512

Knowledge Bowl is a fun fast-paced trivia type game covering all types of curriculum. Students play in teams of 4 to 5 students against other Summit Middle School teams.

Robotics

Robotics meets Wednesday in 411 from 3:10-4:30.   

The 2019-2020 season will begin in late August and run through February.  If a team should qualify for State their season will continue to March.

Interact Club

Interact Clubs brings young people together to develop Leadership Skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. We are charged with organizing at least two projects every year, one that helps our school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Rotary Club sponsors will mentor and guide us as we carry out our projects and develop leadership skills. SMS sponsor is Kim Dyer kimberly.dyer@summitk12.org and attendance at the meetings does qualify for IB Community Service Hours.

Dungeons & Dragons Club

Each Thursday 3:30-5. (Weather Permitting). Club will often meet in the library when available, otherwise Mr. Fladung’s room. Students will participate in collaborative story-telling with everyone in their group while exploring through an imaginative fantasy setting! 



MathCounts

The high school's Math Honor Society is starting a new club at SMS called MathCounts.  We will work on fun and challenging math problems while preparing for a MathCounts Competition on February 7, 2020.  We will have high school students from the Math Honor Society run the club and help with the math problems.  All students are encouraged to join and it is a fun opportunity for kids to hang out with their peers while also improving their math skills. Our first meeting is Tuesday, December 3rd from 3:30-5pm in the library and we will continue to meet every Tuesday after that.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Flannagan.
