As Assistant Principal, I strive to ensure the safety and learning of all students. 

About Me

I am excited to be starting my 9th year here at Summit Middle School and my 23rd year in the teaching profession.  I have spent all of that time teaching and working with students in Middle Schools. This age group is my passion and I enjoy getting to know as much as I can about the students and families that I get the opportunity to interact with.  I feel extraordinarily lucky to be allowed to work on a daily basis with the amazing staff, students and families that enter our building.  SMS is an amazing place to work and to send my own children.

My wife, Betsy Buerk, is also a teacher in the district.  She works as a reading specialist at Dillon Valley.  I have two children who will be attending SMS this year, Hank in 8th grade and Elle in 6th grade. My son Charlie is now in 9th grade.
